Is there such thing as a USB Network Adapter that does not require a wireless router that works on Vista?
I don’t want to have to purchase a wireless router. Is there a USB Network adapter that doesn’t require a wireless router? It will have to work on Vista too.
It really depends on what you are trying to do.
Short answer you will need some sort of modem to get to the internet, a wireless modem from a wireless provider (connect via USB) or a land-line connection (Cable or DSL). To use the land-line one either contact your ISP and see if they offer a wireless modem (some do) and if not you will need a wireless router (something that will take your wireless signal to the modem and then on to the internet).
Routers are quite cheap these days.
If you have a laptop and vista then chances are you already have wireless functionality (wireless network NOT internet), to use it you will need a wireless router.
If you have a desktop and Vista, then a USB wireless or PCI wireless option is available (again wireless network NOT internet). Again you will need a wireless router.
Unless all you want to do is connect to another computer that has wireless then all you need is for both to have network wireless and set that up.
